Go Comedy is offering three camps this summer - improv camp for elementary school aged children, and stand up comedy camp for high schoolers. Read on for more information, or email classes@gocomedy.net with questions.
Improv Summer Camp for Kids
Monday, June 24- Friday, June 28 | 9:00am-3:00PM |
For Upcoming 4th-6th Grade Students | $300
Our weeklong camp focuses on improv basics and performance games with an emphasis on listening, teamwork, and support. At camp's end, the kids perform a show for family and friends (3PM on June 28). For the kids camp, water and snacks will be provided, but students should bring a lunch every day.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Malen Taylor is a Resident Company member at Go Comedy! Not only is she an Improviser and a Musical Actress, but she is also a Director, Puppeteer, and Choreographer. She found Go Comedy! by attending the Teen Camps and Classes when she was a kid, and she’s grateful to be back full circle teaching as an adult!
Along with performing in the Resident Company at Go Comedy, Malen has toured all throughout the Midwest with The Brainstormers Inspiration Factory, performing Improv for kids during the day. You also may find her performing in The Dinner Detective Troy Company. Malen has attended several intensives and workshops, including Second City Chicago and Improv Utopia East. She has had the chance to direct plays, choreograph musicals, and teach improv, puppetry, and stage combat to children as young as 8 years old, all the way up to college students!
Malen loves teaching students because she gets the chance to see them grow not only as performers, but as people in their creativity and their confidence. She truly believes that improv has the power to change lives, because it changed her’s! There is something for everybody to enjoy when it comes to improv!
Stand Up Camp for Teens
Femme, them, & Queer Teen Stand Up Summer Camp | Runs June 17 - June 21 | 1-4PM | $200
Teen Stand Up Summer Camp | Runs July 15 - July 19 | 1-4PM | $200
We’re excited to partner with ZHailey Coaching for two week-long summer camps for high school students interested in learning the art of stand up comedy! During this weeklong course, students will learn a bit about the history of stand up comedy, foundations of the performance arts, safety tips, best practices of family-friendly comedy, exercises to expand skills, and will perform in their own show!!
Each camp runs Monday-Friday from 1-4PM at Go Comedy Improv Theater, and culminates in a class show on Saturday (1PM) for family and friends.
These classes are designed for high school students 16-18 years old.
For the Femme, Them, & Queer Camp, students must identify as femme/woman, a member of the LGBTQ+ community, or non-binary.

About the Instructor
Self proclaimed Posh Spice of the Metro Comedy scene -- Hailey Zureich has been performing stand up comedy since age 14. She's cultivated an unique audience engaged storytelling style that brings the laughs and inspires!
Hailey is a certified Life Coach, Yoga Teacher, has 15 years experience as a corporate trainer, and rounded out her performance experience to include short and long form improv, and stage acting.
Her training integrates her mastery in these areas to help create an atmosphere of safety, confidence, and space for fun while learning.
